Preliminary Findings from Phase I of the Structural Atlas
After completing nearly 100 independent structural reductions across ten scientific domain groups, I wanted to step back and ask a simple question:
What patterns keep appearing?
Rather than presenting another individual case study, this paper summarizes the observations that emerged from the entire Phase I corpus.
Some findings were remarkably consistent:
The paper also identifies several emerging findings—including recurring transformation families and the role of connectivity in maintaining persistent organization—that now become priorities for Phase II.
Importantly, the paper also discusses what remains unknown. Independent replication, quantitative comparison, and out-of-sample testing are now the next steps.
This represents a transition in the Structural Atlas program—from building the corpus to testing whether the observed organizational patterns represent genuine structural regularities across domains.
