SUB-PRESENCE — DAY 1 Is remembering the same thing as continuing? I've been exploring a structural question that sits underneath many discussions of memory, continuity, and artificial systems. Suppose a system stops processing and later resumes with access to all of its prior information. Did the same organized process continue? Or did a new process retrieve an archive and reconstruct what had been happening? In this working research note, I use sub-presence for a candidate distinction: the persistence of sufficient relational organization across inactive intervals such that an organized process can resume without complete reconstruction of its prior context. recoverable information≠continuity of organization

This is not a claim about consciousness or awareness. It is a narrower structural question: What has to remain organized while a process is inactive for its return to be continuation rather than reconstruction?
