SUB-PRESENCE — DAY 3 RECONSTRUCTION COST — FROM PROTOCOL TO IMPLEMENTATION The next step in the reconstruction-cost work is now available: Reconstruction-Cost Pilot: Implementation Specification — Schemas, Interfaces, and Smoke-Test Runbook, Version 0.1 The underlying question is simple: Can identical stored content yield different recovery costs because one condition preserves residual relational organization while the other removes it? This technical note moves that question from experimental design toward a constructible test. It specifies the state schemas, software interfaces, interruption and branching logic, recovery actions, cost meters, infrastructure assertions, and deterministic smoke-test procedure needed to compare intact residual organization with depleted residual organization , while holding recoverable memory content and the post-interruption process state matched. The first objective is deliberately not to obtain a preferred result. It is to establish a paired implementation in which: • memory content is demonstrably identical, • active process state is wiped identically, • residual organization is the controlled difference, • recovery uses the same protocol and budget, • evaluator state cannot leak into recovery, • and both runs produce auditable cost and continuity records. Only after those infrastructure gates pass does the reconstruction-cost comparison become interpretable. That distinction matters: Build the instrument before interpreting the measurement No empirical reconstruction-cost result is reported here, and no claim about awareness or consciousness is made.
