One idea has quietly influenced much of my recent work.

When a scientific model stops working, our first instinct is often to assume the underlying system has become unpredictable or fundamentally different.

But another possibility exists.

Perhaps the model has simply reached the boundary of its descriptive validity while the system itself continues to evolve.

This paper explores the distinction between descriptive boundaries (the limits of our models) and structural boundaries (actual changes in the underlying system).

Looking back, this paper became one of the conceptual bridges leading to the Boundary Science program and the current work on Boundary Science Structural Reduction (BSSR).

Rather than comparing equations directly, the current research asks whether different mathematical systems can be reduced to a common structural representation, allowing us to compare how they organize, persist, and transition across domains.

Sometimes the map ends.

The forest does not.
